Francis
and Alison work with the Dalit people in India. These people are often
referred to as the "Untouchables" and are at the very bottom of
the social ladder. In fact they are under the ladder, often trodden down
and abused and disadvantaged.
When
Francis and Aalison
asked the adults in Dalit communities how they could help, their answer
was always the same. They wanted them to help their children have
opportunities so that they do not have to experience the lives which their
parents have experienced – mainly through education.
So
Francis and Alison have started Children’s Clubs in Dalit communities to
give the children HOPE and to see their lives change
There
are now 5 Children’s Clubs operating. At
these clubs ….
-
They
teach the children how to play
-
They
teach the children English and help children who are at school with
their homework
-
They
tell them stories from the Bible
-
They
give them refreshments and encouragement …
Not
only does this help the children in their start of life, but many of these
children and their parents experience the love of God for the first time
and respond by making a decision to follow Jesus.
