Tsunami
Education Project
When
the Tsunami hit India there was much devastation. Roy and Ponna and their
students from SEMI identified the urgent need for children to be helped
back into education. Through the kindness of people such as yourselves we
were able to raise enough money to send 160 children back to school in 2005. Click here
for the details of this very successful appeal. The wonderful thing is that not
only have we helped the children and parents by this act of Christian love, but
it has meant that people in non-Christian areas have seen the love of God at
work and have responded positively to this.
We
would like to thank everyone who responded to the 2006 appeal and enabled us to
send £2800 out to help the existing students and 100 new ones.
Roy
writes:
"We praise the Lord for your donation send
to us, the less and plenty in sum , for the tsunami education project. We
are very happy to inform you that help given by you was a comfort and
protection to the children and to their parents. It helped us to go with
true gospel among them while some other religious workers where working. Brothers
Clement and Shiju who are our staff workers are doing a splendid work there
with the great burden of souls.
The work among these people is much risky. In the
days of heavy rain and in sunshine they have to travel a long distance by
suffering such inconveniences when they reach the spot to work, In addition
to such suffering they have to face the obstacles and persecution from the
workers of other religions.
In the midst of all these difficulties the work
here is progressing. The main attraction is Sunday school among children. We
anticipate the SEMI will have a strong worshiping centre here. Dear friends
please remember this work in your prayer."
