From
time to time we get to hear about particular one off needs from our
partners or from other people who one or more trustees know - needs
which touch our hearts. As though God is saying to us "I want
this to go ahead but it needs some resources". We call these
God Opportunities (or GO projects), and this page tells you about some
of these.
When
such an opportunity arises trustees share the information with each
other and sometimes it is so obvious that little or no debate is
necessary - the one important principle in all major decisions of AMEN
trustees is that we are in complete unity in believing that something is
what God wants AMEN to be doing.
We
hope that you will be encouraged and excited as you read about some of
the GO projects

Helping
Pakistan Christians (October 2009 update) |
Many
readers of this site will have heard of the serious and unjustified
attacks on Christians in parts of Pakistan in recent times.
When we
heard of this we felt as trustees that we should provide some relief
and have donated £500 to assist many families affected. Click
here to read about the situation in Korian and Gojra. Although
the recent news is encouraging we
would ask you to continue to pray for these Christian brothers and sisters in
such distress at this time.

Providing
clean water to villages in Philippines
(August
2009) |
Pastor
Winston Pinzon and his colleagues from Mission Ministries Philippines
are starting churches in three villages outside Manila where the water
supplies are very bad. We heard about this at the same time as a church
was looking to support a project to bring clean water to people
somewhere. God had linked these two opportunities together.
The
outcome - enough money has been raised to meet the needs of the three
villages initially highlighted and there is enough for several more
villages. The people in those villages have been amazed at seeing God's
love in action! Click here

Refurbishing
an Orphanage near Mumbai
(September
2009)
|
Purnata
Bhavan (House of Wholeness) consists of four houses near Mumbai which
provide Christian love and care and accommodation for children with HIV/AIDs.
These homes are overseen by Oasis India who lead prayers and worship
with the children.
Currently
38 children are being cared for, but the houses are in urgent need of
maintenance. £4000 has been donated to do exterior maintenance, but
£3750 is needed to do work inside the houses. AMEN trustees visited
this project and were impressed by the care and love shown to these
children. It touched our hearts.
Amazingly,
for some time AMEN has had almost exactly that sum of money in a
special fund for "Orphanage Buildings" - and each time we
looked at spending it we felt that God had asked us to hold on.
Obviously God had Purnata
Bhavan in mind! We are delighted to be able to GO ahead!

The
Congo Fish Project
(September
2009) |
Wycliffe
in Congo are translating the Bible into a local language in the Teke
area. But many of the people cannot read. For £500 plus other money
they have already collected they can buy fish at the coast,
transport it and sell it in a local inland town and use the profit
to pay teachers to teach local people to be able to read the Bible and
other material as well.
The
capital will then be used to repeat this exercise every three months -
so the project is self-sustaining. What a wonderful way to enable people
to be able to experience God's Word!
