What is
AMEN?
During
his work for Operation Mobilisation, Gareth Bolton was moved
by the plight of people in developing countries who are struggling to serve God
with limited resources. It was for that reason that he set up the charity AMEN.
From very small beginnings supporting one couple in India, AMEN is today
partnering with many different ministries
worldwide. Winston is giving basic medication and Bible studies on the Manila
rubbish tips, Jill and Sorin are helping mothers and prospective mothers in
Romania, Tassie
and her friends are ministering to people affected by HIV-AIDS in Nigeria, and
so on.
AMEN
is a conduit through which much needed finance can be channelled to those who
the Trustees know will use it wisely.
There are
six distinctive characteristics of AMEN
1.
We only support specifically Christian ministries, most of which are
holistic in nature
2.
Most of those we support work in their country of birth and all are
personally known to one or more of the Trustees
3.
Wherever possible, money sent from AMEN goes directly to those being
supported.
4.
All the AMEN team (including the Trustees) are unpaid volunteers and pay
their own expenses on any ministry trips. This minimises our administration
costs
5.
Support is not just financial but also includes personal contact and
visits, spiritual encouragement, and practical advice. We aim to have real and
genuine partnerships and close friendships with those we support
6.
All major decisions require the unanimous agreement of all Trustees.
