Water Filter

	One of the major causes of death and illness across the world is polluted water. Many of the AMEN partners work and minister in areas where this is an enormous problem. In association with Links International AMEN have identified a particularly effective water filter system - both effective in the standard of filtration but also extremely simple and so very useful in developing areas. We have installed several evaluation systems with partners in Africa, India, and Philippines with extremely good results. Recently we heard of a major need in Philippines. Pastor Winston Pinzon have started helping three villages. Two of these villages are close to huge rubbish tips with terrible smells and badly contaminated material everywhere.
Many of the families are only able to live by scavenging off the rubbish tips. People in the West would not even wash in the water that they have to drink. The third village is built on marshland and although there is piped water, the pipes are damaged and the water in contaminated. Winston writes quite simply - "these water filters will give life!" AMEN have been able to provide 150 filters for these villages and money has been generously donated to provide even more. Most of our partners across the world have identified that this is a huge need. We now feel that it would be good to open up this appeal and have therefore added Water Filters to our Gift Catalogue.
