Dear friends

I was born in Manhiça a District of Maputo Province Southern of Mozambique, (Maputo City is Capital of Mozambique) in October 7, 1960.

I am married to Percina António Cumbe Mafumo, father of 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys, the first born (girl) is 24 years old and the last one (boy) is 10.

My dad died while I was 1 year old, I didn’t know my father’s face. I was brought up by my mother. She was a Roman Catholic believer; consequently I grew as a Catholic up to the proclamation of the independence of Mozambique in 1975.

After the independence the government adopted communism system, as it is known that communists don’t believe in the existence of God, so the churches were shut down and the Christians were persecuted. That time I was a school boy, in the school we were forced to follow and obey the communism system and to forsake our Christianity.

I was born again in 1986, the year that the first President of Mozambique Samora Machel (communist) died and the politics changed. I went to a Bible College for four years and I graduated in 1991, and in the same year I was ordained Pastor. As soon as graduated from the Bible College I realized that God has called me to serve Him in the leadership training. Then I sought a way which by I could work as a trainer, thank God in 1995 I was invited to the Evangelism Explosion III clinic (training) in South Africa. When I came back home I started to train others. I witnessed the growth of many churches in different places of the Country. When I saw that people were getting saved through the Evangelism Explosion came to me another concern that was about the people who came to Christ, because of the situation of the leadership, as many Pastors are not Biblically trained.

So from the year 2000 I turned all my attention to the Pastor training, beginning with small group of 5, and many Pastors joined the training. The work continues to grow. On the left is a picture of a graduation party.

People are now involved in evangelism and church planting countrywide, many people are brought to Christ.

Our problem has been that we have no base for this work. At present the classes are being held in many different places, and this results in a lack of effectiveness and reduces the number of people we can accept.

We have known Gareth Bolton and AMEN for many years. Thanks to the help of AMEN we now have some land and some finance to start building a school which will act as a base for our training. We plan to build a four roomed property with three teaching areas, an office and two toilet cubicles. We will keep you informed of the progress of the building but also of the ministry through our newsletters

Blessings and thank you
