What we do ...

My name is Tassie Ghata, I am the co-ordinator of Grace and Light International. I have 7 years experience of working with HIV/AIDS. I am happy to introduce Grace and Light to you. I am so excited to be involved in this movement so that together, we can stem the increasing spread of HIV.

Grace and Light International is a non-governmental Christian organisation with its HQ in Jos, Nigeria. The movement started in 2003 with the passion of moving faster than AIDS! Many people have been trying hard to stem the tide of HIV in Africa and yet the epidemic continues to develop almost everywhere.

I feel this movement is the way forward. Grace and Light brings permanent integration of HIV/ AIDS ministry in the life of churches of any denomination in a new way, in that we are able to give prevention through education, voluntary counselling and testing. We are also involved in care for the infected and uninfected through weekly meetings of our members in small groups which provide accountability and give mutual support.

Such integration is possible because all our members have been tested for HIV and because those who are infected all live with it openly. In that way, we and the whole community can show love to people living with HIV and AIDS and defeat the culture of stigmatisation and discrimination which has helped drive the epidemic forward.

We are completely dependent on donations in carrying out our activities. AMEN recently gave us a donation to purchase a vehicle so that we can get around to the churches easily. This has been a great help and we thank all of you for your generosity. This is just one of the ways in which you can partner us, as the Lord is leading you. We also hope to expand our staff.

In  conclusion, I want to say we are happy to be partnered in any way. We fully and completely depend on donations in carrying out our activities and have many urgent needs at this time. We welcome all kinds of prayer and partnership.
