In the suburbs of Bombay
a special
couple are doing an amazing and unique work. They are ministering to some of the
thousands of slum dwellers. Asha, the wife has set up some Sunday schools and feeding
programmes while John, the husband leads a number of Bible study groups which meet each
week and come together on Sundays for a worship service. What makes the whole thing even
more remarkable is that this couple has next to nothing themselves! Their home is tiny, they have no
transport and no guaranteed income yet despite that, they wash, feed and witness to these
people daily. They are totally cast upon God. |
Whilst
continuing to work with adults living in the slums and ministering to lepers
nearby, John and Asha have been particularly drawn into a ministry to the
children who live in the slum areas of Mumbai. Click here
to read about the way in which this work is developing, its needs, and the
wonderful way in which God's hand is guiding this work to the most vulnerable
people in society.
Most
recently they have been at the very heart of the major flood disaster which hit
Mumbai. They have been co-ordinating support to local people in their area
with the help of finance from AMEN. Click here

John
and Asha visited UK for a much needed break in April and May 2003. They brought
with them a letter in which they opened up their heart and lives to the reader
– showing the way in which the Lord has called them to serve Him and the
people of India – showing the immensity of the needs and their love for their
Lord and their country. It is moving and personal. With John and Asha’s
permission we have edited it for this web site.

This
is their story and vision – as you read we ask you to let the Lord touch your
heart, as He has ours
